Like most guys with a fancy haircut, a lion’s mane is all about attracting a mate. So this guy, with his golden flowing locks, rests proudly on his rock in the warm Kenyan sun, awaiting his pick of the foxy lionesses. He has the biggest, bushiest mane in the Kingdom.
The lion is a favourite spirit animal, symbolising royalty, personal strength and courage. They are fierce protectors, and nothing (apart from the odd stray gazelle) is more important than family.
These huge cat-like creatures can grow to a massive ten-feet long, weighing up to 550 lbs. To put that in perspective, a Saint Bernard, the largest breed of domestic dog, weighs a mere 200 lbs in comparison.
If the lion is your spirit animal, then this lion mane image is for you. Hang it proudly on the wall, looking over your own personal Kingdom, helping to protect you from whatever comes your way.
Available in a range of image types and sizes, this lion mane image was captured in the Masai Mara by wildlife photographer, Alex Jones, on a Nikon D5.
